愛爾蘭的每個郡都有自己的民歌。在都柏林聽到幾首好聽的愛爾蘭民歌。有的是情歌 love song；有的是Ballad（中文譯成敘事民歌），歌詞美的像詩歌，向人們敘述著往事。

這是一首很老的愛爾蘭民歌。這首歌是Thomas Peter Keenan （1866-1927）為幾年亡妻而作。可是有人說本歌的原作是JP Skelly。 李子查到最早的歌譜是1881年由紐約Spear & Dehnhoff出版社發行。那時Thomas Keenan才年僅15歲，怎可能有亡妻呢。不管是誰，JP Skelly是個Irish。

7. Field of Athenry

去年六月，李子第一次訪問都柏林時聽到這首歌。當時覺得這首歌的背景很不尋常，便把歌詞大意記下。回家後上網一查，果然這首歌是愛爾蘭家喻戶曉的民歌，而且是反叛音樂（Rebel Music）。曲作者是皮特·聖約翰。歌詞作於1970年。故事以1845-1850年間愛爾蘭大饑荒為背景，向人們傾訴愛爾蘭人經受的苦難。
這首歌自2009年上傳到YouTube後，收到六百多萬次點擊。一位網民是這麽評論的：
8. Flight of Earls
上世紀90年代初，李子工作的試驗室來了一個叫G·肯尼迪的博士生。他來自愛爾蘭的Cork郡，美國前總統約翰·肯尼迪的故鄉。G是個很靦腆的年青人。他說他畢業的學校出過一個很有名數學家，叫George Bool。布爾代數，和編程用的Boolean data type是用他命名的。他大學畢業後周遊世界，還在中國雲南住了一段時間，結交了很多當地的中國師生。
G學習了不到一個學期，突然不辭而別，消失得無影無蹤，連導師都不知他的去向。
據李子考察，這首歌作於上世紀八十年代末到九十年代中期。描寫的是，當時愛爾蘭經濟蕭條，很多青年被迫流落海外謀生。這歌名“爵士大逃亡”是借用17世紀初愛爾蘭貴族戰敗後被迫逃亡的典故。
第一次聽這首歌時，李子回想了起這段往事。在此祝福G人生美滿。

9. Whiskey in the Jar
這首歌是最古老的愛爾蘭民歌之一，作於17世紀（作者不詳）。YouTube上的這個視頻自2010年11月發表以來，已經有1400多萬次點擊。
