第三波萵筍開始收獲

第三波萵筍經過兩月的生長，開始到收的時候了。


一片片打過葉的萵筍，生機盎然。


什麽時候收，看頂，若出現小花蕾，可收。打去花蕾，一兩天內也必收。此時，頂開始空，底下不空。若收早了，產量低；收晚了，空心。


今早拔了17根，大個頭。還剩80多棵。


放上標尺，2寸，是大萵筍的標誌。


跟俺手腕有一比。

由於萵筍要削皮，所以越粗越好，否則4-5個才炒一盤，而俺的大個隻要一棵就足以。


差點忘了，又一麻袋萵筍葉，這是上麵的葉，很嫩。

萵筍營養價值很高，且涼拌炒菜都行，是人人喜歡的菜，建議大家多種。

I put Chicken wire around the outside, and put broken glass pieces outside of the chicken wire fence. Very rarely the deer could come in. This year it did come and ate some peppers, but only one time.

No animal likes Celtuce (WoSun), it tastes a little bit bitter.

I worry field rats a lot. This year my sweet melon almost all bit by these guys. I killed more than 30, still more to go. Next year I need to use stake for the sweet melon.

Outside is much large, more important, it will not change my inside view. So my major summer veggies are outside.

I see that you plant some vegetables outside the fence.
Do you have deer or other critter problem in upstate NY?
