海倫凱勒箴言中譯，送給地震中傷殘的同胞們
海倫∙凱勒(Helen Keller, 1880-1968) 是美國盲聾人作家。她的《假如給我三天光明》是文學史上的著名篇章，給了無數殘疾人以生活的勇氣。

當一扇幸福之門關閉時，另一扇就打開了。但我們的眼光總是停在那扇已經關閉的門，而沒有看到這扇打開的。When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us.
如果世上隻有歡樂，我們就永遠都學不會勇敢和忍耐。We could never learn to be brave and patient, if there were only joy in the world.
世界有無數的苦難，但世界也有無數對苦難的征服。Although the world is full of suffering, it is full also of the overcoming of it.
自憐是最可怕的敵人。如果我們屈服於它，我們就做不成任何對世界有益的事。Self-pity is our worst enemy and if we yield to it, we can never do anything good in the world.
性格不是在輕鬆和平靜中塑造出來的。隻有通過試煉和苦難，靈魂才能堅強，壯誌才能激發，才能取得成功。Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved.
安全感多半是個假象。它在現實生活中不存在。生命要不就是個大膽的冒險，要不就沒有生命。Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature.... Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.
很多人對幸福的認識是錯誤的。取得幸福不是通過不停地滿足自己的需要，而是通過對自己所負使命的忠誠。Many persons have a wrong idea of what constitutes true happiness. It is not attained through self-gratification but through fidelity to a worthy purpose.
從來沒有一個悲觀者發現過宇宙的奧秘，航行至未知的土地，或為人類的心靈開辟過一片新的視野。No pessimist ever discovered the secret of the stars or sailed an uncharted land, or opened a new doorway for the human spirit.
不要低下頭去。昂起頭來，直視你麵前的世界。Never bend your head. Hold it high. Look the world straight in the eye.
