這是一個原型係統。設計一個激光切割機的接口，與之結合用激光來熔化粉末材料－可能包括金屬實現打印。係統設計基於約旦米勒博士的實驗室microphysiological係統和先進材料。openSLS硬件設計是dropin粉末管理模塊，唯一目的是同步層。

目前有多種商品但非金屬材料，價格也都不菲。

MetalX是金屬材料打印機但事後要放烘箱成型，而且據說會縮小２０％，不知尺寸如何保證。
