Amazing grace! how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.

’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear,
The hour I first believed!

Through many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
’Tis grace has brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.

Yes, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease;
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun forbear to shine;
But God, who called me here below,
Will be forever mine.

When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
Bright Shining as the sun;
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise than
When we’d first begun.

老大在中學的合唱團和本市的 All City Chorus 每年都要演唱這首歌。曲子很美，每次我都聽得如癡如醉，弦律已經哼得很熟了。前段時間我們教會唱詩班排練時，指揮選了這首歌。這是我第一次完完整整地學習歌詞，感覺很震撼，因為排練時間很緊，我們很快就學下一首歌了。今天的禮拜中，指揮選了 #312 。我翻開厚厚的 HYMNAL ， #311 "Amazing Grace" 在左頁， #312 "Come, Thou fount of every blessing" 在右頁。唱晚 #312 後，我沒有合上手中的 choir book 。禮拜完了，再次仔仔細細地讀了 "Amazing Grace" 的歌詞，人就怔在那裏，感覺除了震撼還是震撼！

回家的路上，忍不住和家人分享我的感受。 LG( 也是指揮 ) 問大家知不知道誰是 "Amazing Grace" 的作者，隨後就講了 John Newton 的故事 -- 怎麽從一個黑奴販子轉變成一個牧師，最後成為英國廢奴製度的積極倡導者。老大也把曆史書上的相關知識給我們介紹了。車裏安靜下來，窗外是 New England 的金秋，天是那麽的藍，雲是那麽的白，滿眼是金黃火紅的楓葉！
