05-12-16 15:06:54 The latest advice by pediatricians is to start solid food from 6 months old AND if your baby is ready. No need to do it too early and don't force it. Just relax. Your baby will guide you.
Regarding cereal, starting it first is because most babies are not allergic to it, not because it has any nutrition value. Actually other than the fortified iron it contains, it does not have much nutrition values. Many babies do not like it, mine included. Her first food is banana, which has potassium and other vitamins. If yours like banana and veggies, give her those. Don't believe the saying that once baby starts sweet food, they will not like veggies. What babies like is probably pre-determined by what you ate during pregnancy and the genes. My baby started with banana and loves vegetable. She does not like other sweet things and still prefers vegetable over fruits. So again, relax. Give her what she likes. If you want to add iron, mix a little cereal with veggie or banana.
By the way, I strongly doubt the quality of your pediatrician if that is really what he/she said (cereal has nutrition but fruits do not).
Don't feed baby orange and strawberry until one year old. When to start gg yolk and other meat stuff depends on your baby. Mine could not digest these well until after 9 months (she has problem sleeping and gas). So observe your baby closely when you feed her a new food. Start slowly and observe any signs of allergy.
