有所思，有所感，從曆史的時空中來，再回到曆史的時空中去。
在介紹美國政府檔案時，曾提到擁有15個宗卷的 《美國軍情局有關中國報告： 1911 － 1941 年》（U.S. Military Intelligence Reports: China, 1911-1941. 15 reels）這套檔案。實際上，自其1983年出品以來，就引起各方廣泛關注，因為其史料價值，對於研究民國時期的曆史幫助很大。許多人在做某一課題研究時，總是想辦法引用這套資料，以此支持其論點。
這套檔案實際上也可稱之為《美國國務院駐華武官秘檔》，在於其集中反映了自1911年以來到1941年間美國駐華武官及其幕僚們，在中國各地所收集和撰寫的極有價值的有關中國各個方麵的情報。這一時期美國駐華使團駐節北京（北伐一統後叫北平），但其武官及其下屬幕僚們，卻不僅僅從這裏，還從南京、哈爾濱、重慶、廣州等大中城市，甚至從全國各地，就中國的政治、軍事、內政、外交、甚至文教衛生等各個方麵，向國務院提供報告、情報文件和相關背景資料。更主要的是，這些報告或文件資料，皆來源於他們與中國政治軍事領袖或不同層級的官員的晤談、訪問，對相關事件人物的觀察和分析，包括執政當局以及與之抗衡之派別和勢力，甚至共產黨及其軍隊的情況以及其它列強在華活動的細節等方麵的調查和整理，涵蓋的範圍極廣。這套15卷的縮微膠卷檔案，前13卷皆選自軍情局所存中國檔的第165號宗卷，第13和15卷則主要選自國務院所藏之從軍情局收集而來的檔案。
桂係是國民政府時期極具影響力的一個與蔣中正抗衡達二十多年的派係。這套資料中涉及桂係者，比較淩亂，需要耐心閱讀淘找，因為每一卷的頁數皆不下800－900多頁，甚至上千頁。在下在這裏，將這15卷的縮微膠卷每卷的目錄（由Paul Kesaris編輯整理）貼出，希望對研究桂係、以及研究民國在太平洋戰爭爆發前的這段曆史的人士，有所幫助。
