Nehru Children’s Museum

 

Collections of puppets depicting Ramayana and Mahabharata, toys and dolls, as well as elementary science gallery in the museum are of attraction for children.

Netaji Museum

 

The museum is a collection of personal effects, photographs, letters and other documents of Netaji, as well as a good collection of documents on India’s struggle for freedom.

Kali Temple at Kalighat

   Re-built in 1809 over the site of an older temple the Kali Temple is an ancient centre of Hindu pilgrimage.

Rabindra Bharati Museum

 

 The 18th century family mansion of the Tagore family at Jorasanko now houses the Museum devoted to the poet’s life and to the Young Bengali Movement. The museum has a collection of almost 2000 paintings by Tagore.

Horticulture Garden

 

Agri-Horticultural Society’s Garden was founded in 1820 by William Carrey. The Garden can boast of its significant collection of botanical varieties.

Inaugurated in 1984, this is the largest world-class sports stadium in Asia with a capacity for 1,20,000 spectators.
