Darshan(Story)---10 Years Old

(2008-03-14 04:34:14) 下一個

There is Christian prosecution happening in most all of the countries in the east. This is a story about a young boy and his Christian mother in their time of need for God’s word.

Darshan had been running around the burning wreckage that used to be his house for as long as he could remember, trying to see if he could salvage anything from the debris. “Darshan! Quick! Go and take everything that you can find that hasn’t been burnt down yet!” his mother had said, with tears in her eyes. 7 minutes later, Darshan only had a meager pile of cooking pots, childhood toys, and clothing. His mother looked at the pile with despair. “How could God do something like this to us?” She asked to herself after the fire died down.

Years earlier, Darshan’s mother had said the same sentence after a flood had taken the life of his father and sister. Darshan scooped up the pile and looked through it once more. “No Bible.” He mumbled. The Bible had been his favorite book since he was able to listen to his parents read the stories to him. The tales of faithfulness and courage and wisdom was his pure happiness. But now there was no bible. No help. A single tear dropped onto his hand. Darshan and his mother just sat beside the house wreckage, for hours it seemed. Then his mother suddenly said; “Well, we’d better do something. Lets see if we can get some sort of shelter from this house.” A little while later, Darshan and his mother stepped back and observed this little shack they had made. “It’ll do.” His mother said. Darshan smiled weakly. He was still overcome with shock. A couple days later, Darshan and his mother were sitting in the shelter, rain pouring through the cracks. Cold and hungry, they ate the last hunk of hard bread and they drank a little of the rainwater. “Tomorrow I’m going to see if I can sell these old toys.” Darshan decided. He was too old for them, anyway. “Alright. Try your best, son.”

And so, the next morning, Darshan reluctantly left his mother in the shack and ran to the marketplace. He had just enough money for either 2 day’s provisions or a small, torn up bible. Fighting his hunger and thirst, Darshan bought the bible from the merchant and ran home, his heart heavy. Surely his mother would be fuming when she heard that he had used up their last coins on a bible. “Mother, here.” He thrust the bible in her hands. A huge smile cracked on her face. “Where did you get this?” He recounted what happened, and his mother said, “You did the right thing.”  Happy, he laid back against the dirt and listened in awe as his mother read; “In the beginning…”

~Two days later a wealthy pastor was walking down the road where a boy and his mother sat. The woman’s eyes were sunken, gray, but strangely, sparkled with joy. He then realized that the two had been reading the Christian bible. He smiled. That night, returning to the shelter the boy and the woman had been sitting in, he laid supplies for two months there, leaving a note that said; “May God bless you.”~
