十個英語謎語(Riddle)

有的英語謎語必須用英語來思考才能猜得出來。

1)What is that by losing an eye has nothing left but a nose?
  失去一個眼睛則隻剩下鼻子的東西是什麽?
              Noise
  將“noise”單詞裏的“i”去掉後成為“Nose”。

2)  What five letter word has six left after you take two letters away?
    五個字母組成的單詞去掉其中兩個,反而變成了六個的東西是什麽?
    將“Sixty”單詞裏的“ty”去掉後成為“Six”。

3)  Why was Washington buried at Mt. Vernon?
    為什麽華盛頓總統被埋葬在巴儂山上?

    Because he was dead(因為他已經死了嘛)

 4)  Why is the number 9 like a peacock?
      數字的“９”好象孔雀一樣,為什麽?
      Because it is nothing without its tail．
     (因為如果沒有尾巴它就什麽都不是(和“０”一樣了)

５)   What is the longest sentence in the world?
     世界上最長的一篇搏客文章(句子)是什麽?（要從英語角度來考慮） 

"Go to prison for life."
     （“無期徒刑”。“sentence”單詞除了有“文章”的意思
       還有“判刑”的意思）。 

６）Why is the letter A like noon?
“Ａ”字母好象中午一樣,為什麽? 

Because it is in the middle of DAY
（“Ａ”在“DAY”（一天）的正中間嘛）!   

７） What is full of holes and yet holds water?
到處是洞口而有能集水的東西是什麽? 

a sponge
（海棉）   

8)   What is broken when you name it?
說出你的名字就會遭到打破的東西是什麽? 

silence
（靜寂）  

9)  What time is it when the clock strikes thirteen?
     時鍾打１３次的時候，是什麽時候? 

 Time to get a new clock.
（該買新時鍾的時候）
