Daddy, thief?

       Wendesday, March 27th, 2013, We got home in the evening, I checked ian's backpack, found four Easter egg chocolate and a cookie , he told me he got from his teacher Mrs. Brown. (He has a very good habit----whenever he recieved something from somebody, either a gift or food, he will always bring back to me ,show me and ask me permission before he can eat it or have it). Since we had to go to Karate class at 6:30pm, I rushed him to have something to eat and a East egg chocolate of course. Remember now he had three Easter egg chocolate left.
      The minute we got home, I heard his hursh voice'who ate my chocolate?'  daddy went'' I did''
Of course there was lots of arguing after that. Finally the main argument was like this .

Ian accused his daddy for stealing his candy and asked him to pay him back. 
Daddy argued '' I am your daddy, I love you very much, I just wanted to test you to see if you want to share it with me. I buy lots of things for you, you should be generouse.''

When Ian went on and on and on about the stealing part, daddy was stuck, he couldn't find a right word to explain this to ian.

I called everyone to the couch, asked Ian to calm down, ,when everybody agreed that I could be the judge and say something, I started.

''daddy, Do you know where these candies come from?
''no''.

''do you know Ian got these from his teacher?''
''no''.
''so you think these candies are from our house''
''correct.''

''ok, here is the thing ,Ian, stealing means I take things that belong to me without you knowing it.  what daddy did was not stealing, 'cause he did not know these candies belonged to you, he thought these belonged to out house, and everyone in the house can have the goods ,even sometimes I said 'these are for you,ian 'when i buy the stuff, in our house, everybody has the right to share the food, the goods in the house. because each one of us is part of these family.''

''On the other hand, We are a family, we share the same blood, we love each other, and this love is different from the way you love your teacher, your friend.  So when you found out daddy took your candy. You should let him know that this candies are yours, and discuss a reasonally solution to solve the problem instead of yelling and crying.

So all of these are misunderstanding, but daddy did cause a little bit of damage---ate your candy. So if daddy agreed ,we would to to walmart to get a bag of Easter egg chocolate for you this weekend.''

Daddy immediately agreed. and Ian thought about it and agreed too.

The next morning, Daddy applaused my talking ,in private and secretlly ,of couse.
