The widening gap between the rich and the poor, I think, resulted from the global competition. Global competition was not being brewed to maturity over night. Capital, technology, human resource, and so on and so on, all had worked together for long time to hatch it out. The rich claimed the bigger share of the financial rewards, fair or not?
Government has to be paid for their work. But they have to do some good works. The poor has to be helped but they have to work harder as well.
