He doesn't have to shine as a PG, but rather be consistent and reliable. Control the tempo, push the ball when there is chance, knock down shots when he's open.
Too often, we see Lin holds the ball at the top of the key, can't shake off defender, so he gives up the ball. You know why? Because defenders know he can't shoot that pull up jumper, that's how they stay away from him, and cut the first step for his drive. Now, blaming coach or teammates won't change that situation.
You need a jumper to keep defender honest, to have room for drive. You need to be a soring threat, to keep defender honest to focus on you, then you can create open opportunities for your teammates. That's how you play PG effectively.
Stop whinning, seriously.
His shooting sucks, he's not a shooting specialist.
