I learned this phrase from "The Fourth Turning is Here" by Neil Howe who
expounded on the cyclic nature of history and the concept of the saeculum, an
80- to 100-year period divided into four generations. In the last century, for
example, there were the Silent, the Greatest, the Boomers, and the X generations.
Boomers, born between 1946-1964, are still active. Today's youth would be the
Millennials and Gen Z and they would more likely to say "Okay, Karen" to
lectures from us Xers, as most Karens, the entitled, rude, bossy type, are Gen X.
