recap this well known proverb just to show one wolf's trick.
Enbridge Gas Inc. is the natural gas supplier for most town and city residents in my area. We receive monthly bills from Enbridge. Of all the utility equipments in the basement the water heater is rental. It never lacks complains about this rental charges; technically, you can opt out the rental and buy your own water heater; since the water heater is also a gas appliance under the regulations and trade monopoly you have to hire licensed gas service providers to install and service it. Most people stay with rental but the rental service is from another company called Enercare. Maybe the water heater is a part on the gas line, Enbridge had collected the rental charges for Enercare, the rental cost is showing as 'Charges from other company' along with the nature gas charge, and we are all used to it.
For unknown reasons Enercare decided to stop using Enbridge and bill the customers directly. So they sent SMS, paper bills, or maybe emails to their customers, assigned their accounts on Enercare and request payments. This is the text message to me from Enercare. No big deal, I set up my account, still use direct banking for payment.
From now Enbridge is Enbridge, Enercare is Enercare. After my first payment I received another similar SMS regarding the same billing of the amount of my monthly rental fee.
I have a feeling of contempt, am I this dumb? could take entercare as enercare?
I wondered how this clumsy trap could ever deceive people? To make an online payment involes a series verifications. Who would just click in and scan a barcode without giving a thought?
