Going Out at Midnight Slightly Drunken
Midnight. The wind is light.
A cloud is chasing the moon.
The moon is more interested in
playing hide-and-seek instead.
Under the moonlight, I can still
see the vastness of the desert.
The sky above, a starry dome.
Stars are falling toward the horizon.
The people in my mind are an ocean away.
A place my thoughts are tethered to.
After many years I still feel like a guest,
less or more, in America the Beautiful.
Memories come and go.
Some are warm, some are cold.
Are they just time's random whirlpool
or something I actively search for?
Walking alone in the night,
I feel translucently happy.
Do I just enjoy this solitude
or it's gotten hold of me?
If there is any sorrow, its better
dissolved by singing Su Shi's poetic songs.
To knock off my hangover, I'll
have to resort to Du Fu's poetry.
