"The Moon speaks for my heart" could be a choice for 月亮代表我的心.  It fits better the rest of the lyrics.  It also closely conveys the original meaning of the Chinese presentation.  If I were to translate the lyrics to poem I would use this.  But it may not go well with the music as "The moon shines on my heart" does.  You may try to sign to get a feel.

Repetition may not be a problem. It seems to be the feature of all kind music.
