請教老友記問題

本人剛開始學“老友記”，不少語句單詞都懂，但意思有點糊塗。今天開始貼出來問題，從第一季第一集開始，希望各位高手鼓勵我、幫助我。

1）phoebe:wait, does he eat chalk?-----這句問話應該是開玩笑的問話，但"eat chalk"有何文化背景含義在後麵，為何拿"eat chalk"來取笑？
2）Chandler：alright， so I'm back in high school, I'm standing in the middle of the cafeteria,and I realize I am totally naked......then I look down, and I realize there's a phone......Joey: Instead of....? That is right. ......-------這段對話應該有點成人味道，但我不理解突然從前麵情景轉到這裏的意思，裏麵“笑”在哪裏？ "instead of’ 什麽？總之，Chandler會使壞，但我沒理解這段話的意思。
