I really had the impulse to have a good vent about the joy and pain of reinventing the wheels the other day, but didn't get the time to do so any earlier. Wish I could do it now, but I still don't have enough time to.
One kind of the pain of such wheel reinventing adventure is that we are not able to tell the good materials from the bad, or the bad from the good, when we are at a relatively low level. Oh, by the word "adventure", I am obviously referring to the self accent correction process. Among the sources that I have spent serious amount of time studying, there are two I wish I had not known or hadn't known at such an early stage of my experiment.
I had thought this, http://www.uiowa.edu/~acadtech/phonetics/, were a good place to learn the right articulation, and had believed I was lucky to have found it for a long time. But I realized it is kind of a wasting of time in the end. As for the other source, it really takes courage for me to admit it publicly that I have finally learned that it has done more harm than good to me. This one is the Ann Cook "Bible". I had felt it were good in the begining, bad years later, then good for a while. Right now, imagining my going back to redo the learning, the least thing I wish to happen would be to get Cook's book as my first guide.

Isn't it like a girl marrying the first guy she runs into, thinking he were like a god, while living a struggling life but believing that is what life is all about? :-)
