For me, to understand a peom I need to read a lot of other relative information, the same in English. For native English speakers, they are no different than us when reading Shakespears. So if I were the translator, I won't worry about their perceptions, because I have no control over their understanding on my work, however,in order to avoid misleading my readers I would select the phrases and words that could accurately express the thoughts and meanings of whatever are being translated.
