文學是藝術，不是科學。不同的人有不同的理解。並且有時怎麽理解都無妨。

如果按字麵來講，莎士比亞或Chaucer的mind's eye也不一定通。
從引申的意思講，The vagrants 裏的when neither the sun nor its shadow reigned是說得通的。從貼的那段看，故事（這是小說）發生在1979。那時誰在reigned？作者說，不是the sun 也不是sun的影子。
當然讀母語不是英文的人寫的作品累，定力不夠可能還會走下坡路。象那個 how many trees of blossoms blooming 就讀著有點怪。
