Lesson 45 Embarrasing Experiences

(我最近發現有時自己說英語聽著不地道，很多問題都是在音標“\e\”的發音上，嘴長大長小聽著都不對勁。當年遇到一個英語特別好的中國女孩子，當時她說這個“\e\”是她覺得中國人最難發準的。後來才慢慢體會出她的意思。embarras裏的第一個字母“a”有兩個發音：\im-ˈber-əs\, or \im-ˈba-rəs\，900句原文朗讀這裏發的第二個，梅花音，更誇張。我剛開始聽你讀的時候，覺得你在說“embirrasing”；又聽了幾遍，覺得這裏你想讀 emerrasing。聽的人不會誤會，但如果想完美一些的話，這個"a"我會讀的大一些、扁一些。)

661. I can’t believe I said (這個“d”在說快的時候很難餘出音節給它，但它代表時態，不能不處理。在我聽來，這裏明顯缺了1/4拍兒的音節。老外都拿短促的“休止符”來處理。舌頭稍微頂一下上齶,這個1/4休止符就出來了。) something that stupid at the party.

662. I just spilled my drink all over my pants (a 梅花音).

663. Halfway through my speech, I forgot the rest of what I wanted to say.

664. I didn’t notice the stain (ai 元音“A”，A不發飽滿的話這個詞會讓人誤會成sting) until I got to work.

665. He tripped and fell (這個就是我現在在練的，時時注意嘴巴再扁一點。別人不會誤會，但讀成準確的“e”會更好聽。因為我們的病人經常fell) right in front of the guests.

666. She came to the party in the same dress as me.

667. My ex-girlfriend told (元音“O”嘴型一定是張開的、圓的，"l"也是發出來的，所以在音節的處理上比普通音節要長一點。你讀的聽著是“\təld\”，900句原文朗誦這裏可以明顯的聽出“Ol”的處理。同理：old, gold, cold, fold...) everyone at the party about me.

668. He was so sick that he vomited right in the middle of dinner.

669. I just realized (e 元音E) that this shirt isn’t clean.

670. Someone told Bob what I said about him.

671. That has to be my most embarrassing (這個發的能聽出來是“e”) moment ever.

672. That shouldn’t be enough to cause you to quit. 

673. That is a little embarrassing.

674. Still you shouldn’t stop doing something you liked just because of one incident. 

675. I embarrassed myself the entire evening.
