Gary Locke, former U.S. Secretary of Commerce, has started his appointment as U.S. Ambassador to China for nearly six weeks, during which he exerted pressure on China on the issues of trade protectionism and Renminbi Exchange Rate; however, he never expected that, since he arrived in Beijing, people had focused their attention on his ethnic Chinese identity and his non-bureaucratic and down-to-earth style, which have made him likable by Chinese people, and in the meantime, also caused concern among the commentators of China official media.
