It has been proved by experiments that children are able to learn swimming at very early age. In a special swimming pool in Los Angles, infants have been able to hold breath under water before they can walk (Infancts were quite skillful in holding breath under the water before they were able to walk, 覺得用過去時更合適). The two-month infants show(showed) no sign of being unwilling in water(to get into water). They adapt(ed) to swimming so quickly that they can (could) pick up objects on the bottom of the pool. Their favorite sport is(was) a tricycle race in water. Tricycles are(were) set side by side on the bottom of swimming pool of seven feet deep. The one who first reaches(reached) the other end of the pool wins(won). Many kids pedal (pedalled) the tricycles whereas more prefer (preferred) pushing or pulling the devices. Some of them have been (were) able to cover the whole distance without lift(lifting) their head out of the water for breathing.
