It is usually at the judge’s discretion to impose a lighter sentence if first time offenders have a clean driving history prior to being charged with reckless driving. 

The difference between VA and CA reckless driving is in VA it is a criminal record.

我在VA和加州的駕駛記錄良好，而且是首次。上Fairfax District Court法庭前有幾個問題請教：

1. 出庭時到底要Plea "Guilty" 還是"Not Guilty" 。 據說如果Plea "Guilty" 就連向法官陳述事件請求減罪的機會都沒有。法官會直接定罪。是這樣嗎？看到有帖子說出庭當天見法官前可以和prosecutor 討論Plea "Guilty"可以減罪到多少，真是這樣嗎？據說我將去的General District Court in Fairfax是非常繁忙和嚴苛的。

2. 出庭前要準備什麽。有朋友建議我畫圖顯示當時路由窄變寬(one lane to four lanes)，所以加速。但我覺得用處可能不大。警察說我67mph， 我沒有證據證明他不對。有人建議查 speedometer，相信即使查出不對法官也很難相信。所以我會帶新辦的VA driver license，VA和CA clean driving record， 也會畫個圖備用。Anything else you would suggest?
