緊急求助單身老貓及其他賢友：Plea Guilty or Not Guilty: Reckless Driving 67mph/

我從加州搬來VA約一年。兩周前經過LORTON被馬路對麵警察攔住說Radar顯示我開67mph，而該路限速35mph. 當時我先經過一段修路區所以時速很慢（only one lane），過了該區後路麵擴為 two lanes，而且基本沒車，所以我加速時沒注意，而且也沒看到35mph限速牌。很快警察攔住我時才看到遠處前方有一個35mph的限速牌。他給了我兩張罰單：一張Class 1 reckless driving； 一張因為我的駕照還是加州的（因我們很快會搬回加州所以一直沒換。警察說我補辦一張VA駕照即可）。

心中很懊悔自己開車不當心，因為搬來不久不明白為啥一定要上法庭而且還是Class 1 Reckless Driving所以警察給我罰單時還和他理論了半天（現在學習了，才知道VA和加州不同，很內疚）

我在VA和加州的駕駛記錄良好，上Fairfax District Court法庭前有幾個問題請教：

1. 出庭時到底要Plea "Guilty" 還是"Not Guilty" 。 據說如果Plea "Guilty" 就連向法官陳述事件請求減罪的機會都沒有。法官會直接定罪。是這樣嗎？看到有帖子說出庭當天見法官前可以和prosecutor 討論Plea "Guilty"可以減罪到多少，真是這樣嗎？據說我將去的General District Court in Fairfax是非常繁忙和嚴苛的。

2. 出庭前要準備什麽。有朋友建議我畫圖顯示當時路由窄變寬(one lane to four lanes)，所以加速。但我覺得用處可能不大。警察說我67mph， 我沒有證據證明他不對。有人建議查 speedometer，相信即使查出不對法官也很難相信。所以我會帶新辦的VA driver license，VA和CA clean driving record， 也會畫個圖備用。Anything else you would suggest?

3. 我這個情況是否應該請律師？
