那些通過海牙公約到中國領養孤兒的，做家庭審查以及遞交移民申請，大約需要幾萬美元和幾年時間。你這個情況能夠省的僅僅是在中國的費用，美國的審查費用你還是要出。

最後，如果你居住在中國，可以在中國直接收養親戚，那麽你的收養不需要經過海牙公約。但是，美國大使館不會馬上給孩子來美簽證。美國法律要求你在國外收養後，被收養孩子必須和收養家庭住兩年以上（在中國），然後就可以按immediate family直接申請綠卡。
