CoolVocie, I am a mid-level manager in a big financial company. Following are observations from my point of view:
1. Every manager likes employee who can follow instruction. If an employee challenges his manager's authority regularly, the manager won't be happy.
2. It's very hard to fire somebody in a big company like Visa. I have people who drives me crazy, but I don't even think about firing him. If I did, it would ruin my reputation in the company as a bad boss and my manager will see my as incapable manager who manage by threat.
3. Since you work remotely, it's very easy to wrong your teammates or be wronged. We chinese may think technical skill is every thing, however attitude is much more important. What's the old saying? Charater decides fate.
4. When we feel been discriminated, I believe it's has more to do what we did as an individual than as a race.
Just my 2 cents.
