轉基因作物既未提高產量，也未降低殺蟲劑用量

關於轉基因食品的安全性，最近有很多激烈的討論和爭論。而關於它帶來的好處，如提高產量和減少農藥使用，則較少有人質疑。那麽這些優勢是否毋庸置疑呢？

去年紐約時報上的一篇文章，通過對比美加和西歐的農產品數據（來自聯合國糧農署的報告），說明轉基因食品尚未實現其提高產量和降低殺蟲劑用量的承諾。

大家知道，西歐國家很少種植轉基因作物，而美加兩國則廣泛種植，最普遍的是大豆和玉米。盡管如此，西歐國家的玉米產率這30年來幾乎和美加相同，見下圖：

而甜菜的產率，美加即使轉了基因，也遠遠趕不上歐洲；連增長率都趕不上，越落越遠：

最尷尬的是農藥（殺蟲劑）用量，不用轉基因的法國在大幅下降，而大用轉基因的美國不降反升。橘色曲線是法國，藍色是美國

事實上，孟山都的產品加大了除草劑Glyphosate的用量，從下圖可以看到2000-2010年的暴漲：

由此可見，轉基因的優勢尚未被實踐證實，也許在小規模種植對比中有優勢，可是放到一國的規模比較，優勢尚不明顯。

至於安全性，雖然目前尚未發現問題，但可以看出對於人們大量食用的糧食作物，即使是美國也是比較慎重的。比如小麥，尚無轉基因的產品：“https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genetically_modified_wheat  As of 2015, no GM wheat is grown commercially, although many field tests have been conducted.”

而轉基因玉米，則多用於食品添加劑和動物飼料；超市裏賣的玉米棒子，則比較少有轉基因的。http://www.ewg.org/enviroblog/2014/04/corn  雖然並非絕對沒有，但2013年的調查中在71例抽樣中隻查到兩例。

綜上所述，在轉基因的產量和抗病蟲害的優勢尚未明確的情況下，對轉基因食品還是應該采取慎重的態度為佳。
