based on my personal experience, I think you can try probiotics.
I don't have constipation problem, but it used to be somehow sticky, and I can stay in washroom for a while ( you know what I mean). Based on some research, I started drinking Bio-K+. After about 2 month, poopoo became easy, and smooth out in shape of 1 or 2 bananas, and almost nothing left on pipi.
20$ for 6 bottle of BioK and I drank half to one per day.

recently, I stop Bio-K+, but drink kefir instead. it's just kefir is cheaper. (I saw people discussed Kefir here, and some people make it theselves, sounds easy, you can search it by key word).

But if you have a problem now, you may want to start with bigger number of bacterias, BioK claims 50 billion per bottle.

or you can try probiotic pills, you can find them in health store but only those in the fridge section. I read somewhere, that only the live ones work or work better.
