試用各種Linux係統是我近年來發展起來的一個業餘愛好。Linux電腦操作係統非常好，安裝方便，使用簡單，界麵漂亮（調試好了，比蘋果機的界麵漂亮），速度比視窗係統要快得多（尤其是在配置略低的機子上）。更新的時 候也很簡單，隻要你在初裝的時候，給Linux的Home folder 單獨建一個分區 （ext2, ext3, or ext4)，更新的時候，你先前存的文件都不受影響，更新一次係統一般要花一兩個小時左右，比重裝視窗係統的時間要短。一個係統裝好了，使用起來要是沒啥問題，一般也不需要經常更新係統。這裏展示的是昨天安裝在一台個人電腦上的Fedora12係統。這個係統最近才推出，我是在這個周末把她裝到了一台已經用了近5年了的老式筆記本電腦上（內存僅256MB）。裝好後，電腦運行超級快（一點沒誇張）！




安裝調試好的電腦桌麵很幹淨清爽。桌麵頂部的功能條上顯示了各種安裝好了的軟件, 分區及文件夾，和各係統功能（Applications, Places, System）。功能條上顯示當地的時間，天氣，電腦係統運行狀況，垃圾箱，無線網連接等等。桌麵底部的軟件shortcut啟動條簡潔明快，使用起來很簡單，而且比蘋果機上的類似功能條更漂亮（純屬個人口味）。




當然，桌麵底部的軟件shortcut啟動條可以按照個人口味進行多種改變。這裏展示的是我比較喜歡的一種，shortcut啟動條平時不顯示，但隻要鼠標一滑動到桌麵的底部，它就自動展開（如圖），很方便，也挺酷！




如果你喜歡更平實樸素一些的桌麵，這裏展示的就是一個。我在底部加了一個功能條，有firefox和關機等功能的shortcut。




當然，你也可以用自己拍攝的照片做桌麵背景（桌麵上的照片今年夏天攝於中亞依賽庫湖）。點擊了頂部功能條上的Applications，各個安裝好的軟件就顯示了出來。




象絕大多數linux係統一樣，Fedora12提供了一個巨大的軟件數據庫，你可以選擇安裝成千上萬個免費軟件，安裝起來很容易，不過是用鼠標點擊幾下而已。




這裏顯示的是OpenOffice的Write，相當於Microsoft Word。OpenOffice有陽升係統公司開發，完全免費，功能及其強大，一點不比Microsoft Word差，我個人喜歡Write遠遠勝於Word。另外，兩軟件基本兼容，你用Write寫的東西可以存成Word的文件形式，以便和其他人交流。




這裏顯示的是OpenOffice的Impress，相當於Microsoft Powerpoint，但我個人感覺Impress功能更強大，各種templates很齊全，Impress和Powerpoint基本兼容，你用Impress寫的東西可以存Powerpoint的文件形式。另外，OpenOffice裏還有和Microsoft Office相對應的Spreadsheet, Database軟件。




使用Fedora12係統上網很方便，使用Firefox，讀寫中文都沒問題。圖中右邊的一個小的窗戶是Empathy軟件，想到於MSN Live，但同時可以把Google Talk, QQ, Yahoo, AOL等其他online chat 帳戶加進來，這樣同一個軟件可以同時管理多個帳戶。




使用Linux不影響你寫中文，此帖就是我用一個Fedora中的中文書寫軟件寫的（見左下角的小浮動功能條）。




在Linux中看各種視頻文件一點都沒問題。我用VLC Multimedia Player看電影，該軟件可解各種視頻編碼，很強大！（電影中龜田隊長在命令湯司令掃蕩高家莊和馬家河子，要悄悄地進莊！）




在linux中處理照片沒問題，使用Gimp，該軟件比Photoshop的功能一點都不少，很強！




最後再貼一個桌麵作為收尾。支持Linux是打破微軟壟斷的一個重要行動，這個帖中提到的Linux係統和軟件都是免費的，希望大家要試試，Linux真的非常好用！

要試就從某個Linux live CD開始。我個人比較喜歡CDLinux。這是一個漢化的Linux live CD，多媒體配置的非常好，雖沒有配備OpenOffice，但一般上網，看電影，聽音樂，聊天等功能都有，而且超級快！另外，CDLinux可以裝到一個stick drive上，這樣你就擁有了一個裝載到stick drive 上的迷你小電腦。我有兩次出國旅行（非公差），就帶一個4GB的安裝了CDLinux 的stick drive, 使用旅館的計算機，把stick drive插進後重新啟動，你就馬上在異國他鄉有了一台自己的“電腦”，不管旅館的電腦設置的是什麽語言，跟你都沒什麽關係了，很方便！這裏是下載CDLinux的鏈接： http://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=cdlinux 。

當然，你要是需要在Linux上處理文件，CDLinux就不夠用了，你需要安裝略為複雜的係統。我最喜歡的linux係統是OpenSuse, MintLinux, Fedora，這幾個常見的係統漢化簡單，多媒體設置也很簡單，並都配有OpenOffice軟件包。如前所說，OpenOffice功能很強大，我感覺比MS office隻好不差，而且跟 MS Office兼容（個別情況下Format會有小的不同，但很容易調整）。

我現在公司配的兩台電腦裝的是視窗，家裏的電腦裝的都是dual systems(linux and windows)。在家裏除非使用公司的筆記本，一般都用linux。希望你也能有機會試一試Linux。A linux virgin may need a few hours upfront to become used to it. If you want to try out Linux， start with CDLinux。Here is a guidance for those have never put their hands on Linux:

1. Download an iso image file for CDLinux (the community version, 200+MB, see the link above).

2. Burn the iso image on an empty CD. Attention, burning an iso image on CD is different from burning the file on CD. If you need a software to burn iso images, here is a free one: http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download.

3. Insert the CD with the iso image into the CD drive of your computer, restart the computer. In less than minutes, you will get the linux system ready for use. In the system starting process, a few small windows usually pop up asking some questions. Don't worry. Just click OK to all of them, then you will get there!
