Mint is built on ubuntu, but has better out-of-box compatibility

Cosmetically, Mint is also better than Ubuntu

two or three years ago, i tried all major systems (almost all), and felt Ubuntu slower than fedora or opensuse. but things change, Ubuntu might be quicker now
