哪個title 好：Principal 還是 Director?

在公司做principle architect 3年了。這個職位不屬於管理層，所以手下一直沒人， 都是和其他組裏的人合作。 因為活太多，最近自己招了一個contractor.

最近公司調整title。 我老板覺得以後我要多招人的話最好換個title, 建議什麽program director之類的。但他也覺得principle 本身其實是一個很strong 的title。他讓我自己去想一個title。

我在公司的好朋友強烈建議我去要個director 的title. 我挺猶豫的。 Director 屬於管理這條路了對吧？據說走上管理就是一條不歸路了， 不太可能回頭做技術來。我不太喜歡整天文山會海的， 但其實現在principle architect 也差不多， 但是至少技術上是要on top of things. 而且principal 可上可下， 萬一要找工作應該比較容易。 Director 再找工作估計選擇麵要小了， 隻能往上找。

我是保留現在的title呢， 還是要個director? 或者有什麽其他title能夠技術和管理兼有？"Head of something" ? 多謝建議。
