See him as an individual. Every time you run into him, you just saw an old friend, who is charming and honest, just like any of your other friends you expect to be.
If you see his race (he can tell,) you are giving him a license to behave in a way he knows you'd ascribe to his race, thus absolving him of his personal responsibility, guess which way he'd go, good or evil?
Make sure you demonstrate your own standard of integrity and diligence. Make sure he know that you know he looks good because you are there.
