Enormous growth opportunities.

A business usually allocates its resources to various projects according to their potentials. The management allocates the best resources to what they perceive to drive the growth of the business. For example, they use the best talents they can get to work on the projects on which they place an importance. But indeed, market conditions change all the time then they have to rethink their strategies accordingly.

When your project was placed at a lower end of the priority list, your lack of softskills might have been just overlooked because the management did not want to overspend on a less important project. When that project's rank was moved up by a few notches, they would expect more from you. That explains how your review declined from exceeding to underperformed, because you couldn't keep up with the new circumstances.

But now, you have a chance to prove that you can keep up with changes. At least, tell them you are open to new challenges and have them provide feedback. If they are open-minded, they will

embrace your attitudes and actions.
