1. Lead by example - probably what your boss wanted the most out of you. This includes be the first in the office and the last to leave, be hand on and show how things are done correctly.
2. Have a good idea of each persons skill sets and assign the right tasks to the right person.
3. Give freedom to your team member and let them make their own mistakes with calculated risks that ties into #2. Don't micromanage.
Once you have earned the respect from your team, then you can provide directions rather advises.
