Please pardon my ignorance, but what exactly do you want?:)

Just to piss off that group N? Or you want the manager job in that group? 

Obviously you are making a big fuss about what others are doing and how they are going with their jobs. What exactly did you gain? Testing out the support from your boss?

The more important question is, what do you expect/plan to gain? Means and risk/reward analysis are all secondary, the first and foremost question one should always ask him/herself is, "What do I want to achieve?", before you pull the trigger following your emotional instinct.

Quite frankly, I haven't seen any potential benefit for you, in terms of either monetary or corporate ladder, or even just making friends with peers or getting recognition from upper managment. One thing for sure though, you've gained some "visibility", but was that what you really wanted to begin with?
