Thanks for all your replies. As you can see, I am really putting my work away and trying to dig out some good solutions for the issue I am facing.
My boss does not recognize my contributions because:
1. He really wants get extra resources so that he can spend more time on what he is interested in although it is not very business related. The only excuse he can invent is me. He cannot tell his boss the truth;
2. He is a very negative person and has a very high expectation as a perfectionist. So besides his poor communication skills, this is another reason why people find very tough working with him. He told me that he expects that I reach the level that i can complete all the projects without his review or guidance. For example, I just completed a big memo for a very complex project. I asked him whether he can take a look and provide some comments before it is implemented. He said that he is not happy that he still needs to put his hands in. I was stunned by what he said at that moment.
