I believe what you described here. To some extent, what we perceive about the world is restricted to what we see and experience. It can be biased either way. You may be placed in the relatively bright side, but Linna may be left in the dark side. While there are skyscrapers in NY, some people in the US may live in mobile houses. So your experience does not suggest what Linna shared with us cannot have existed. Not every doctor is like Paul Farmer.
Although Linna118 was careless in wording, the issue she brought up stems from her kindness and was nowhere made up. She may have been naive and unsophisticated. However, the reaction of the doctors, except tingfeng's and a couple of others', was no less unprofessional. They would have earned my respect and many unlucky ex-patients' if they replaced their sarcastic attack with some graceful and reasonable explanation. It is quite ironic that these physicians are now playing the role of psychologists, the same mistake they claimed that Linna had made and warned any non-physicians against.
