The major differnece of a conteractor and a FTE is the benefit.
If you do not need the benefit, or, if you can use your money to purchase the benefit, you do not have to cut your salary to get the FTE job.
As long as the current company need you to stay and keep paying you, don't worry about the conttract. Just enjoy you work.
In the meantime, keep looking, till you find a good FTE position.
