懂稅的專家,請教IRA Deduction 及 retirement plan 問題!

我在報２０１０稅.我愛人的４０１K,自己扣交的少了（沒做好tax plan),　我的有雇主提供了retirement plan，但是W-2的 box13並沒在retirement plan打Mark (check).HR 也沒讓我們員工自己扣交.結果，ＡＧＩ超過了89K,落在phase-out period is 89K-109K．

我可不可以,　建立我的Traditional IRA, $5000, 可以幫我減少$1000 Fed. tax. 這樣會不會被審，危險不,值不值? " Vest" 什麽意思?

現在還有什麽其他減稅的辦法嗎?  

我這樣做的理由／依據:　the "retirement plan" box in box 13 of your form W-2 should be checked if you ever covered by a plan at work even if you were not vested in the plan. 多謝!
