I am more convinced he is gifted. I posted one article about it in my blog. It's not about academic smart or not, gifted children are different and they constantly search for challenges or they'll get board very quickly. I am a child psychologist and a devoted mom to a gifted child too so I suggest you to watch out for an enriched intellectual environment for him including peers an dreading and etc. Take care.
