Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I may fall into your catergory of being person who has over 10 years experience but doing the same thing. Since we are a small size company, I have been handling muti-tasking such as: manage and prepare payroll, payroll report, A/P,A/R, general ledger entries,bank reconciliations,internal and external audits, budgets, cost allocation,quarterly financial statement, etc.. However, our business function is not complicated so I have been managed well. The accounting software I have been used the most is Quickbook and Excel. But I found a lot of organizations they preferred SAP, Oracle or others. I'm experienced in general accounting and government accounting. I prefer to looking for a staff accountant or accountant position in Not-For-Profit orgnaization or government but not limited to explorer the different fields if I have a chance.
