just like you said, explanation may make it worse. Just keep this as lessons learned

1. your friend apprently is not very professinal. She should not have let others know the info was from you. You should stay away from people like her. There is an old chinese wisdom: 可憐人必有可恨之處.

2. This "Ah San" is not a good manager. Employee checking on benefit is a very common thing. If she holds grudging like this, she is not a very generous manager and you may want to avoid her. Think of it this way, if she can't focus on big picture here, how will she do in her job and how can you ahve a career in her department?
