most Chinese are not so strong with office politics -- that has a lot to do with our education system and our culture. Most Chinese are too honest to say how they really feel and think about a lot of things - that's not a problem for some technical roles in big organizations with good culture and people with good value, but still that's always a road block for promotions as doing a good job on your area based on your technical skills and your work ethics does not secure you look good to others. What matters more in a lot of organizations is how to look good to others. Do you think you're good at blowing your own horn. In a conflict situation, do you think you are good at protecting your own interest while making the party in power taking your side? It's not cynical, it's not negative-it's the thinking I got in the real world.
