If you are canadian who work in US using TN/H1, when you lost your job you could transfer to TD/H4 immediately because your spouse still works in US using TN/H1. In this way, you are legally stay in US, because you already paid social security insurance... when you work in US, you should receive UI. The most important thing, as canadian who legally stay in US with TD/H4, you could get you new TN visa within ONE DAY. There is no any limitation for canadian to find job and restart to work in one or two days.

I called EDD office sometime ago, they told me I could get my UI if I got laid off.( 1. legally stay in US without job 2. legally work in US before. 3. paid everything during work period)

Please give us some update info next week. Many of us need this kind of info.
