Need your advice -- how to deal with this kind of people in team

Hi All,

I appreciate if you could give me some suggestions below.


I am working in an IT company in IL. Recently my manager (working in a remote site, and rarely comes to our office, only once every other month) said he has an opening for the team lead, and one of my Indian team member shows great enthusiasm after this meeting. Fairly speaking, this person is technically good. But personality wise, he is the kind of person who keeps talking and won't listen to other people. Of course, he shows a very different face when talking with managers, always showing humble and willing to listen to my manager. This is not only my point of view, more than half of the team here agrees with me that he is not fit for the team lead (I had lunch talk with other team members, and they are apparently upset about the idea he may be the team lead)

Since my manager said he will first consider internal candidate, and from what I heard he is one of the candidate. Recently this person starts behave like a team lead, sending emails with command internally (which already upset half of the team).

I really want to hear your opinion how I should bring up this issue with my manager before the final decision is made. Thank you very much for the advice!
