Unemployemnt benefit....

I was forced to resign last week but I tried to apply for the unemployment benefit since I read the Unemployment Insurance Benefits Handbook that indicates a few cases that still apply in the voluntary leaving situation and I paid a lot tax every year and did not do anything wrong. Certainly, I filled the form honestly that I quit the job.

Now, I just got a letter responding to my claim that they will give me a phone interview due to a question raised regarding my eligibility for unemployment insurance benefit. I did not keep much evidence since I was not aware of the unemployment benefit. I only have a saved e-mail that my prior manager asked for my resignation letter.

XDJMs, please help me. I am a single parent and did not do good job to keep the necessary documentation. I have some friends who knew that I was forced to resign but I am not sure if I should ask them to be my witnesses. One of them is still a manager of the company that I worked. My questions are the following:
1. Do I still have a chance to get the unemployment benefit if I quit my job instead of being laid off or being fired? Did anyone get the unemployment benefit in the voluntary leaving situation?
2. How to prepare for the interview?
3. Should I call my friends to be my witnesses? I am not sure if this will impact their employment since it is not easy for everybody to have a job under this economy.
4. Should I e-mail to ask the HR person who knew the fact that my manger forced me to resign?
