I totally agree. Sometimes, you have to talk back. Last month I went back to China for family emergency and stay there 5 days more than the vacation I have for this year. Before my vacation was over I called my manager and told him I was sick need to see the docotor. I asked him to talk to the HR for me about this. After I came back from China, the HR brought me a sheet of form about borrow vacation from next year. I told HR before I sign anything I have to talk to my manager. I went to the manager and told him that I am not agree about borrow vacation from next year since I was sick in China not took extra day vacation. Finally, he agree with me and let HR to count on sick leave on the extra 5 dyas. Sometimes, You have to speak for yourself, no body else.
