I am mainly a bull market believer, so it is possible that we got lucky as Nasdaq has been mainly going up over the last 15 years. I normally only buy aboslute industry leaders plus QQQ/SPY in my core portfolio and hold them for a very long time.
I do use TA signal to hedge my account. There are too many details here but the basic idea is that, if there is a danger of trend reversal, I dont sell my position but would use hedge to protect. I typically focus on major trend reversal signal (such as MA50 or MA200 cross) and just ride the ups and downs with the other short-term signals. I have been wrong many times, but lucky enough to be on the right side a bit more. In reality, there are a lot more to this, but basically, I tried to play with major trend --- I will not sit there and watch my account to go down 50% and do nothing
Overall, I still think the major bull market trend of Nasdaq plays a lucky dice here.
